JAMMU, Apr 17: Angels (A) team got better of Angels (B) by a narrow margin of 15 runs in a one-off T20 cricket match, organized by the Angel Cricket Academy at Government Girls Higher Secondary School ground, Bakshi Nagar, here today.
Seema Agarwal, a cricket follower and enthusiast was the chief guest in the opening ceremony, who inaugurated the match in a colourful and well attended function, while Director General Youth Services and Sports Navin Agarwal was the chief guest on the valedictory function and distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Angels (A) scored a fighting total of 118 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Sapna Jamwal top scored with 27-ball 27 runs studded with 5 delectable boundaries, while Sunita also contributed well made 18 runs to the total. For Angels (B), Nadia scalped 3 wickets, while Sanjogita and Noor Jahan bagged 2 and one wicket respectively.
In reply, Angels (B) team bundled out for 103 runs in 18.5 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 15 runs. Payal was the top scored with 19 runs including 2 crispy boundaries, while Nadia and Noor Jahan contributed 4 runs each. Skipper Sapna Jamwal was the wrecker-in-chief for Angels (A) team, scalping 4 important wickets by conceding 11 runs in her 4 overs, while Aina, Abha and Bhavika shared one wicket apiece. Sapna Jamwal was adjudged woman of the match for her splendid all-round display.
Seema Agarwal spoke on the occasion and appreciated the budding cricketers for their sporting spirit and discipline.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Sanjay Pardhan as umpires. The match was held under the supervision of Anju Gupta, Director Angel Cricket Academy.
