JAMMU, Apr 14: 2nd PDD Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament got underway at Green Field ground, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
In the inaugural match, EM&RE Division defeated Work Shop Division by a big margin of 117 runs.
Batting first, EM&RE Division scored a huge total of 255 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Vikas Sangra top scored with 77 runs, while Jugraj and Munish 58 and 50 runs to the total respectively. For Work Shop Division, Ashwani and Bhisku took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Work Shop Division bundled out for 138 runs to lose the match by 117 runs. Arun was the top scorer with 43 runs. Varinder took 3 wickets for EM&RE Division.
In another match, Udhampur Engineers defeated CNP by a narrow margin of 12 runs.
Batting first, Udhampur Engineers scored 158 runs in 18.3 overs. Shafiq top scored with 56 runs, while Ashish contributed 24 runs to the total. Tahir and Rajinder took 2 wickets each for CNP.
In reply, CNP scored 146 runs by losing 9 wickets in 20 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 12 runs. For Udhampur Engineers, Rohit was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Ashish claimed 2 wickets.
Ashwani Gupta, Chief Engineer EM&RE was the chief guest on the occasion, while PD Singh, Neel Kamal and Sardari Lal were the guests of honour.
