JAMMU, June 7: Carrying forward with his endeavor to revive and upgrade facilities in landmark locations in the historic Old City, senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi visited famous Peer Kho Akhara, here today.
The Akhara is one of the Jammu city’s oldest training and practicing place for tradition Indian martial arts and is located in the famous Peer Kho Shrine complex.
The management committee led by Raju Pahalwan presented Dogra pagri to Sethi.
Taking round of the complex, Yudhvir laid stress on developing facilities in the famous shrine as every year thousands of devotees from all across the country visit the site. He said the shrine has to be developed as a heritage site of the city and modern facilities need to be provided so as to give visiting tourists an excellent experience.
He said the Akhara are part of Indian culture and they are not only linked with physical exercises but religious practices are also linked with the daily routine of exercise. The project for further improvement of the complex would be followed with the Government, he added.
Taking note of the demands projected by the management, Yudhvir promised all required assistance for the construction of a modern gymnasium and a changing room in the complex.
