KATRA, Oct 31: The 2-day Yog Workshop-cum-District Tournament organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) at Multipurpose Hall of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Katra concluded, here today.
In all, 86 students from 16 Government and private educational institutions of District Reasi participated in the programme.
Arjun Pujari, student of DPS, Kakryal, Katra and Riya Manhas of Amba Kids Home, Panthal bagged first positions in the boys and girls categories respectively.
Ganesh Singh of Government High School, Nomain and Ishika Wazir of DPS, Kakryal, Katra got second prizes in boys and girls categories.
Suresh Singh of Government High School, Nomain and Nikita Rajput of Amba Kids Home Panthal were adjudged third in the boys and girls categories, respectively. They were given away prizes by Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer, Pankaj Gupta, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB and Devinder Singh Bhau, Deputy CEO.
Earlier, Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB throwing light on the importance of Yog in the day-to-day life, said that Yog is most effective, accessible and costless medium for fitness of body and mind, adding that it is even useful in management of various chronic diseases. He also gave details of various activities to be organized by the Shrine Board in the coming months.
At the concluding session, the participating students also gave demonstration of various Yog asanas which were highly appreciated by all present on the occasion.
Principals, Headmasters and teachers of the participating Schools were prominent among those present on the occasion.
