KATHUA, Mar 24: District police under Civic Action Programme organized Marathon, in which hundreds of youths hailing from different areas of the district took part.
The Marathon was flagged off by District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kathua, Zahida Khan in presence of SSP Atul Kumar Goel, DySP Headquarters Daljeet Singh, DySP DAR Rohit Baskotra, DySP and SDPO Border Division Chadwal ML Kaith, other police officials and sports lovers.
The participants covered a distance of 9 kilometers and crossed through various locations including Mukherji Chowk, Sawan Chowk, Canal Crossing. The Marathon culminated at District Police Lines (DPL).
In the Marathon, Yog Raj, Rakesh Singh and Kewal Krishan stood first, second and third positions and were awarded with medals and cash prize of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. Rewards were also awarded to the fourth and fifth position holders’ vis-à-vis senior citizens, children and females.
For the smooth conduct of the Marathon, ambulance from District Health Department and vehicles from Police Department were put up.
Staff members from District Youth Services and Sports Office and Medical Department played a key role in the event and were awarded with mementoes.
