KATRA, Oct 18: Wrestler Satyawart of India won the 11th Rustam-e-International , Indian style Dangal 2015 wrestling title at jam packed Vivekanand Sports Stadium, Katra by defeating his Belarus rival wrestler Ihor Didyk in the final bout, here today.
Being part of ongoing Navratra festival 2015, the event was participated by 4 Nations including India, England, Ukraine and Belarus.
The wrestling championship was organized by the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Tourism Department, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Navratra Festival Committee, District Administration, NHPC, State sports council , Powergrid , Banks, LIC and locals of Katra.
In other main contests, Wrestlers Binia of India defeated Wrestler Myhailo Datsenko of Ukraine and Wrestler Parvinder of India defeated England Wrestler, Leon Gregory Rattigan.
As many as, 33 bouts (including 8 women bouts) were fought between different wrestlers in the whole event. On the occasion, Women wrestlers also participated in the event and about 8 bouts have been fought between women wrestlers.
Minister of State for Finance & IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta who was the chief guest on the occasion complimented the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, SMVDSB, District Administration and all other agencies for holding the event to promote goodwill among the different countries. He greeted the people on the occasion of Navratras.
Wrestler Satyawart was awarded Silver Gurj, Patta and cash prize of Rs.60000 and the runner up got cash reward of Rs.40,000.
On the occasion, best Wrestlers of J&K Amir Khan and Ajay Sharma were also honored by the Minister.
Among others, MLA Reasi Ajay Nanda, Director Sports SMVDSB Ashok Kumar, SDM Katra Anil Kumar,ASP Katra Sumeer Kotwal, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, R S Manhas,Members of the Navratra festival committee, Dangal Committee, prominent citizens, large number of yatris and local people were present on the occasion.
