JAMMU, Dec 4: After getting the selectors nod for India’s 30-member World Cup (WC) probables, skipper of Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy team, Parvez Rasool Zargar said that his selection in the WC probables was simply a dream come true for him and he will leave no stone unturned to impress the National selectors with his performances to seal berth in the final 15-member squad to be picked on January 7, 2014.
Parvez who is presently with J&K Ranji Trophy team at Nagpur preparing for their big contest against formidable Mumbai on December 7, 2014, said this during a telephonic conversation with EXCELSIOR today.
Rasool said that his selection in the WC probables is the outcome of his consistent performances at the domestic as also international level from last two years and attributed his success to former Test cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi and his childhood coaches Rajesh Dhar and Abdul Qayoom.
The ace all-rounder further said that he is having atleast 20 days of cricket at hand to prove his mettle before the final selection of the 15-member World Cup team on January 7, 2014, adding that his good performances against elitist teams in the Ranji Trophy format this season will go a long way to help him find a place in the final team.
Praising the Jammu and Kashmir team which won the three of its five matches in the recently held Vijay Hazare Trophy, beating the formidable sides like Delhi, Services and Haryana and only failed to make it to the quarterfinals because of the run quotient, Rasool said that it was the sheer-dint of hard work by the players, despite uncongenial atmosphere in the State created by floods.
