Workshop on ‘Introduction to Design of Algorithms’ at SMVDU concludes

KATRA, June 1: Two- week workshop on ‘Introduction to Design of Algorithms at SMVDU concluded today.
The workshop was organized by the School of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVDU, in collaboration with IIT, Kharagpur under National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT) project, sponsored by MHRD, Government of India.
The workshop was targeted to train the faculties in various aspects of Algorithm Design so as to enhance their skills in teaching & research. Manoj Kumar was as the Workshop Coordinator while Sudesh Kumar was Remote Centre Coordinator.
The workshop comprised of assignments, lectures, Quizzes and discussions on various topics among participants. The Lectures including inaugural and valedictory functions were live broadcasted from IIT, Kharagpur using A-view Software to Remote Centres. During the workshop the Lectures were delivered by Prof Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, Director, IIT Kharagpur along with other faculties of IIT, Kharagpur.
Meanwhile, School of Mathematics at SMVDU organized an Expert lecture on “Convolution sums of the divisor function and representation numbers of certain quadratic forms” by Prof B Ramakrishnan of Harish-Chandra Research Institute (DAE), Allahabad.
Prof Ramakrishnan is an eminent mathematician in the field of number theory. He is a fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India. In the lecture, he spoke about the contribution of famous mathematicians like Ramanujan, Euler and discussed recent developments made in the field including his own contribution.
Earlier, Director of School Dr A K Das introduced Prof Ramakrishnan with other faculty members of the school. The lecture was attended by all faculty members, research scholars and M Sc students.
