Women College Kathua organizes symposium

KATHUA, Jan 29: To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Red Ribbon Club and NSS wing of Government College for Women Kathua organized an Inter-College Symposium on the topic ‘Relevance of the teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda in present era’, here today.
MLC Subash Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking emphasized upon the youth to follow the foot prints of Swami Ji.
Earlier, Prof Sohan Lal, Principal of the College presented welcome address and spoke on the teachings and philosophy of the Saint.
Over 20 students drawn from various Government and Private institutions participated in the event.
While Manjot Kour of Government Degree College Kathua bagged first place, while Kanika Sharma of Government Degree College for Women Kathua claimed second place and the third place went to Isha Sharma of Vivekananda College of Education. Harmeet Singh of GGM Science College Jammu claimed consolation prize.
The jury members included Dr Madan Mohan Sharma, Principal Ashoka College of Education, Prof Sukhdeep Kour, Principal TDS College and Prof Rakesh Singh, HoD Chemistry GDC for Women, Kathua.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof Gunjan Choudhary, while Prof Shubh Kumar and Prof Yash Paul presented vote of thanks.
