KATHUA, May 1: A Volleyball tournament for inmates and staff of District Jail was inaugurated today at Jail complex.
Three teams of inmates and one team each of Jail staff and CRPF have been framed for participating in tournament, which will conclude on May 5.
The tournament is a part of sports activities being carried inside jails as part of reformative and recreation. Besides, the motive is also to take care of physical health and reliving stress arising out of prison life and job for inmates and staff. The participation of both inmates and staff will also help in developing cordial relationships between them.
The 5-day tournament was inaugurated by Superintendent, District Jail Kathua, Mushtaq Ahmed Malla in presence of officers including Superintendent Sub Jail Hiranagar PK Modi, Deputy Superintendent, District Jail Kathua Surinder Singh, other officers of district jail, staff and jail inmates.
On the first day two matches were played, one between new block inmates team and old block inmates’ team and the other between CRPF team and new block inmate team.
