*Lakhan, Praful Dhar, Manjeet adjudged as Man of Match

JAMMU, Apr 11: Vishal Cricket Club and Simula Cricket Club outplayed rivals in their respective matches and sailed into the semis of the ongoing 6th Baisakhi Cricket Cup, which is being organized by Vishal Cricket Club in collaboration with Police Department at Parade Ground here.
In today’s matches, Rodney Jones ECB Coach was the chief guest who accompanied with Rajesh Gill former Ranji Player, Arjun Choudhary MD KC Sports Club and Rakesh Koul.
Rodney Jones while speaking on the occasion said, “I feel happy to know that J&K Police Department is organizing sports events regularly in different districts with the objective to save youths from drugs by involving them in sports activities”. He also coveyed his best wishes to the participating cricketers for their bright future in sports.
Earlier in the first match, Vishal Cricket Club defeated Green Field Club by 54 runs.
Batting first, Vishal Cricket Club scored 153 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Jagteshwer scored 40 runs, while Lakhan chipped in 35 runs and Rajesh Gill made unbeaten 27 runs.
From the bowling side, Rahul took 2 wickets while Jasbir took 1 wicket.
In reply, Green Belt Club failed to chase the target and bundled out at 99 runs for the loss of all the wickets in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 54 runs. Rahil scored 35 runs, while Akshit made 20 runs and Jasbir scored 10 runs.
From bowling side, Praful Dhar was wrecker-in-chief who scalped 4 wickets, while Raman took 2 wickets and Lakhan took 1 wicket.
Lakhan and Praful Dhar were jointly declared as Man of the Match.
In the second match, Simula Club defeated Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor by 3 wickets. Batting first, Singh Cricket Club scored 114 runs in 19.4 overs by losing all the wickets. Manik made 32 runs, while Vishal scored 31 runs and Lovely chipped in 17 runs.
From the bowling side, Manjeet took 4 wickets, while Akash Choudhary scalped 3 wickets, Vikram took 2 wickets and Satish took 1 wicket.
In reply, Simula Club chased the target in 17.1 over by losing 7 wickets thus won the match by 3 wickets. Satish made 22 runs, while Akash scored 21 runs and Puneet chipped in 19 runs.
From bowling side, JV and Sham Singh took 2 wickets each while Chikku scalped 1 wicket.
Manjeet Singh was declared as Man of the Match.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Dayal and Jannu.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Vishal Cricket Club will take on Parade Sports Club in first semis, whereas Simula Club will lock horns with KC Sports Club.
