SRINAGAR, July 15: Gritty opening batsman Vimarsh Kaw slammed power-packed half-century to help Sachdeva Leopards trounce Surya Risers by a narrow margin of 13 runs in the ongoing Big-GK Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Bijbehara today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Sachdeva Leopards, rode on a magnificent knock of 58 runs by Vimarsh Kaw scored a decent total of 175 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Putting rival bowlers on a leather-hunt, Kaw took just 29 balls for his brisk knock, hitting 10 superbly timed boundaries and 2 towering sixes. Mohsin Ramzan and Mudasir Gojri contributed 28 and 22 runs to the total respectively. Mudasir in particular was explosive, who hit 3 fours and one six in his 6-ball knock. For Surya Risers, Nitin Mehra and Rompy Sharma took 2 wickets each, while skipper Ian Dev Singh and Abhishek Slathia claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Surya Risers managed to score 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs, thus falling short of 13 runs to lose the match by the same margin. Nitin Mehra scored 42 runs off 23 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Bansi Lal and Ashwani Bhat contributed 34 runs to the total. For Sachdeva Leopards, Asif Rasool, Kumail and Javid Mir claimed 2 wickets each, while Ajaz Hajam bagged one. Vimarsh Kaw was adjudged HDFC man of the match, while Mudasir Gojri was awarded for hitting maximum sixes.
In another match played at Kashmir University Grounds, Khazir Royals defeated Cemtac Stars by 51 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, Khazir Royals scored 153 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Jahangir Bhat and Sameer Haroon contributed 45 and 36 runs to the total respectively. Wasim Raza was the pick of the bowlers for Cemtac Stars who claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Cemtac Stars, bundled out for 102 runs in 19.4 overs, thus lost the match by 51 runs. Aamir was the top scorer with 24 runs. Skipper Samiullah Beigh was the wrecker-in-chief for Khazir Royals, who clinched 3 important wickets, while Rahil Singh bagged 2 wickets. Samiullah Beigh was adjudged man of the match, while Sameer Horoon was awarded for hitting maximum sixes.
