JAMMU, Sept 24: Vickrant Mahajan created Yes Thank You Universe–the largest book ever written by hand in human history. Measuring 121 inches (10 feet 1 inch) tall and 72 inches (6 feet) wide, it has been written by Vickrant on specially manufactured sheets of continuous, unjoint paper.
Yes Thank You Universe has 42 pages and weighs 37 kilograms.
Before Vickrant’s manuscript, Codex Gigas (or the “Giant Book”) was the largest book ever written by hand. Measuring 36 inches (3 feet) tall and 19 inches (1 feet 7 inches) wide, it was written almost 800 years ago by Herman the Recluse in Podlazice, Czech Republic, in 1229 AD.
Yes Thank You Universe is 12 times bigger than Codex Gigas and 90 times bigger than a normal manuscript. The book has been sponsored by Jammu Sanskriti School and will be displayed permanently at their Ismailpur Kothey branch.
Speaking on the occasion, Harpreet Singh Anand, Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School said “This historic book will inspire every student of our school to think big and achieve big goals in life”.
The supersized book went on public display at the Wave Mall Jammu from September 24 to 27 and will subsequently be displayed at public places across the city.
