JAMMU, Nov 16: Vishal Cricket Club (VCC) scripted a convincing four wickets victory over JKP XI in the finals and lifted the title trophy of the Eid-Diwali Milan T20 Cricket Cup, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department in collaboration with Simula Software at MA Stadium, here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, JKP XI managed to score a modest total of 98 runs in 17.5 overs. Farooq and Jatin were the main contributors with 16 and 15 runs respectively.
For VCC side, Shashu was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 3 wickets, while Sahil Bhalwal picket two wickets and Bansi lal claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, VCC chased the target in 19.1 overs by losing 6 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Avinash Jamwal was the top scorer with 24 runs, while Ravi Pandita and Sahil Bhalwal also contributed 14 and 13 runs respectively.
For JKP XI, Dilbag bagged 3 wickets while Shamsher and Sunil shared 1 wicket each.
Sahil Bhalwal of VCC was declared as man of the match, while Atul Sharma of Simula XI was adjudged best batsman of the tournament. Vishwajeet Singh and Pavit Singh Ishar of Ishar Cricket Club were named as joint winners for best bowlers trophy. Bansi Lal of Vishal Cricket Club was declared most valuable player for scoring 246 runs and taking 11 wickets in the tournament, while Rajesh Gill Skipper of JKP XI was adjudged man of the series for scoring 265 runs and scalping 12 wickets.
The final and other matches were officiated by Sudhir Singh, JD Singh, Harbinder Singh, Sadiq Hussain, Madan, Yogesh Sharma and Suhail.
On the valedictory function, Dilbag Singh, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone was chief guest while C Punchog, DIG IRP and JP Singh, DIG Jammu-Kathua range were the guests of honours.
In his address, IGP while lavishing praise for the organizers for conducting the event smoothly and successfully declared that the event will be an annual feature. He also announced prizes for the upcoming singers and music party for their splendid show on the occasion.
On the occasion, Singh alongwith other dignitaries had an interaction session with the players and the technical staff of the tournament.
Among others present were Parbhat Singh, SSP Jammu, Sham Sunder, SSP APCR, SP South Rajeshwar Singh, SP North JS Johar, SP Headquarter Shalinder Singh, SO to IGP Jammu Ramesh Angral, Vinay Gupta, Rakesh Koul, Vivek Sharma, Satwant Singh, Sandeep Singh Sunny, David Mattoo and Raj Kumar.
Earlier, Alok Puri, IGP, MD Housing inaugurated the final match by having the toss of coin. He was also introduced with the players of both the teams.
The tournament was organised by J&K Police & Simula Software. Ishar Sports, Atman Sports, Simula Sports and JKP are the official sponsors.
DIG Jammu JP Singh, SO to IGP Jammu Ramesh Angral, Hilal Rather, MD Simula Software and Rajesh Dhar were the members of the organizing team, while, Rajesh Gill was the organizing secretary of the tournament.
The tournament was organised under the overall supervision of IGP Dilbag Singh, in which 12 teams participated and strived hard to claim the title trophy.
