JAMMU, Mar 20: Vinayaka Cricket Club (VCC) defeated Surinder Cricket Club by 2 wickets in a nail biting clash that was decided on the last ball of the match in the ongoing KPL Veteran Cup, being played at KC Sports Club Ground, here today.
After choosing to bat first Surinder CC made 144 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Provin Bhat was the highest scorer with 39 runs off 29 balls, while Vijay Dhar made 35 runs. Sanjay Raina played a quick fire innings of 19 runs at the end. From the bowling side, Sumit Dhar took three wickets, while Rohan Punjabi and Rajinder Jr. bagged two wickets each.
In reply, VCC chased the target in the last over of the match by losing eight wickets in the process. Sunil Dhar played a match winning knock of 48 runs off just 29 balls equally well supported by Rajinder Jr on the other end who made 42 runs. Sumit Dhar also played a good knock of 21 runs. From the bowling side, Vikas Pandita, Rohit Ambardar and Vijay Dhar bagged two wickets each.
Dhar Sumit was awarded with man of the match for his all round performance with both bat and ball. The match was officiated by Ashok Singh, Amit Gill, Puran and Sebastain Sandu.
The tournament is being organised by Sanjeev Kant Sharma, Anil Ambardar and Sanjay Koul in association with KC Sports Jammu.
