JAMMU, Aug 29: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey Legend late Major Dhian Chand, the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, today organized Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Men) Championship 2013-14 at new University Campus, here today.
Around 40 athletes from various Colleges of Jammu province, affiliated to University of Jammu participated in the event.
Rattan Lal of GDC Udhampur bagged 1st position while Bashir Ahmed of GDC Bhaderwah and Rakesh Kumar of GDC Samba bagged second and third positions respectively.
Prof MPS Ishar, Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who flagged off the event in presence of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Ashok Kumar (GDC Kathua), Dr Vinod Bakshi, Ajaz Malik, Rakesh Puri, Narayani Jamwal, Balbir Singh Chib, Sandeep Sharma, Neelam Chalorta (Physical Directors), Vinay Thusoo (PRO) and Ramesh Sharma.
The event was managed by Nirmal Singh, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Sanjeev Jamwal, Nisha sharma, Jai Bharat and Sd Padam Dev Singh.
