JAMMU, Feb 23: UT level Tennis Volleyball Championship, organised by Tennis Volleyball Association of J&K, concluded at International Delhi Public School, here today.
The championship was organised with an aim to infuse sportsmanship, camaraderie and brotherhood among the youth, which commenced on February 21.
Around 140 students from 12 various Districts of J&K participated in the championship with great enthusiasm and zeal to showcase their performance. The main aim of the tournament was to provide all round fitness and extraordinary skills in the students.
Anshul Garg, Deputy Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest on closing ceremony, while Shuja Zaffar honorary president of Tennis Volleyball Association of J&K, Sunil Kumar Sawhney, vice president, Tarsem Sharma, senior vice president, Suminder Singh-MD IDPS, Swarn Singh Choudhary MD IDPS, Randeep Wazir-Principal IDPS and Madhu Abrol, School Manager of the host School were also present during the event.
The Chief Guest distributed the prizes amongst the winners and also felicitated the other dignitaries present over there.
In his speech, Garg boosted the morale of the players and organizers and also ensured the support from the District Administration for promotion of such support in future. He showed his interest to be the part of such events in future also.
The championship was declared open by Gazanfar Ali, Director Sports on February 21. The championship was played under the vigilant supervision of Rahul Bansh and Aashima Pathania (National Referees of the Volleyball Sports). The event was also guided by senior officials of the Association.
