UT level Basketball Championship culminates

JAMMU, Nov 2: Sub-Junior UT level Basketball Championship, organised by the J&K Basketball Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council, concluded here today.
A total of 15 teams of boys and girls from across the Union Territory participated in the championship.
Shastri Nagar secured the Bronze medal among boys. The Silver medal was won by MA Stadium-B team and the Gold medal was secured by MA Stadium-A team.
Among the girls, the bronze medal was won by Shaurya International School, whereas Birla Open Minds International School clinched Silver medal and the Gold medal was bagged by MA Stadium-A team.
Chief guest of the tournament was Anil Kapahi, secretary of Amar Singh Club. He congratulated the players for putting up such a fabulous performance and encouraged them to strive harder, while the guest of honour for the day was Ashik Bukhari, a former Volleyball player.
Dr Vikram Handa presented a memento to the chief guest and encouraged the players for participating in the championship and made the students pledge to attract more players towards Basketball.
He also thanked the STC coach Harjinder Singh, Council’s coach, Sushma Jamwal and the officials of the organizing committee for their hard work to make the event a success.
