RAJOURI, Mar 15: Ummer of Department of Computer Sciences and Madni of Civil Engineering have qualified for the finals in men’s section and will lock-horns with each other in the summit clash, while in the women’s section Shaviya Manhas of B-Tech 4th Semester and Osheen Kundal of B-Tech 6th Semester will face each other in the title clash of the Carrom Championship, organized by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, here.
54 teams including 4 women teams participated in Inter-Departmental Tourney in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in which 4 teams have qualified for the final match to be played in the coming days.
Under the patronship of Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad A Hamal, the University’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports have intensified sports activities in the campus where Inter-Departmental Tourney is going on in various games namely Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Tug-of-War.
The matches of Carrom were played in two categories of men and women and a total of 54 teams played the game. The matches of men’s category were held in Sabrang Hostel while that of women’s in the Old Girls Hostel of the Campus. Registrar and Dean of Students, Mohammad Rashid Choudhary is supervising the championship.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad A Hamal said that winning and losing is part of the game and what is important is participation, adding that the University wants to compete with the rest of world in regard of academics as well as sports. “We want to produce a complete personality and role models for rest of the students of the world and we did not believe only in distributing degrees” Hamal said.
