Two-day national conference on Mathematics begins at SMVDU

JAMMU, Mar 15: A two day national conference on Algebra, Analysis and Applications was inaugurated today by Prof S K Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
The conference is organised by School of Mathematics, SMVDU and is funded by CSIR and UGC.
In his inaugural address Prof Jain recalled the works of great ancient Indian Mathematicians like Aryabhatta and Bhaskara and Mathematicians of modern times like Ramanujan and Harishchandra. He highlighted the importance of Mathematics in other areas too and appreciated the effort of the School for organising the conference.
Prof  V  K  Bhat, Director, School of Mathematics and Dean College of Sciences in his welcome address highlighted the importance of certain aspects of Algebra and Applications in other branches of Mathematics and other subjects like Biotechnology, Computer Science, Humanities and Management.
Prof R K Sharma (IIT, Delhi) recalled the verses from Vedas about the importance of Mathematics. He mentioned that people without Mathematical background could be motivated towards the study of Mathematics.
Prof M Mursaleen, AMU, in his address talked about certain notions of Analysis and their application and suggested to hold such conferences in future also.
Roop Avtar Kour, Registrar, SMVDU congratulated the organisers and wished success for the conference. Dr Kuldip Raj, organising secretary of the conference gave a brief about the conference and conducted the proceedings.
Approximately 70 participants from different parts of the country are going to have paper presentations and deliberations on Algebra and its various research aspects in the conference.
