Three-Day Inter-College Sports Meet wraps up with enthusiastic participation

KARGIL, May 5: The three-day Inter-College Sports Meet at the Kargil Campus of the University of Ladakh concluded with a spirited award ceremony, celebrating outstanding athletic achievements and fostering inter-campus camaraderie.
The closing ceremony was attended by key dignitaries including Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Executive Councilor, LAHDC; Dr Jigmet Deachen, In-Charge Administration, Leh Campus; Dr Mehboob Ali, In-Charge Administration, Kargil Campus and Dr Jaffar Khan, Dean, School of Social Sciences and Arts.
Dr Ghulam Ali, coordinator, Department of Chemistry, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the role of sports in building resilience and teamwork.
The meet saw exceptional participation across campuses, with EJM College Leh dominating the archery competitions, clinching gold in both men’s and women’s categories. In handball, Leh Campus emerged victorious in the men’s division, while EJM College secured the top spot in the women’s category.
Individual accolades were also presented to recognize excellence: Padma Angmo and Rigzen Gurmet were named Most Valuable Players. Awards for Best Goalkeepers and Fair Play were also conferred, reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship that defined the event.
The ceremony also acknowledged the essential contributions of referees and cultural coordinators, underlining the collaborative effort behind the event’s success.
The University of Ladakh’s sports meet concluded not only with medals and trophies but also with strengthened bonds among students and institutions, promising continued athletic and academic engagement in the region.
