Talk on ‘Fundamental Rights and Duties’ held at MIER College

JAMMU, May 8: The School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH), MIER College of Education, organized an informative talk on “Fundamental Rights and Duties in the Indian Constitution” to promote constitutional literacy and civic responsibility among students.
Dr. Bindu Sangra, Senior Assistant Professor, The Law School, University of Jammu, served as the resource person. She delivered an engaging lecture highlighting the importance of Fundamental Rights in safeguarding individual freedoms and the role of Fundamental Duties in fostering responsible citizenship. Her presentation, enriched with real-life examples and key constitutional judgments, was well-received by students and faculty alike.
The event began with a welcome address by Arzoo Sharma, a third-year Political Science student. The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic student participation, with questions and discussions adding depth to the dialogue.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal, MIER College, emphasized the relevance of constitutional values in today’s democratic society. He praised such initiatives for empowering youth with knowledge and encouraging civic engagement.
Also present were Dr. Monika Bajaj, Dr. Nishtha Rana, Dr. Bharti Tandon, Dr. Komal Sharma, faculty members and NSS volunteers. Dr. Bindu Sangra was felicitated with a green planter as a token of appreciation. Pihu Bhardwaj delivered the vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Dr. Nandini Puri and concluded successfully, leaving participants inspired and informed.
