UDHAMPUR, Nov 11: Miss Sukanya Devi was adjudged best speaker in the symposium on “Role of Women in the Society” held in the premises of Government Middle School Sundrani of zone Tikri here today. The symposium was organized by the District Information Center Udhampur.
Second and third positions were clinched by Bandana Devi and Shivam Sharma respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to Shilpa Devi and Vashali. The participants were awarded prizes and certificates of merit.
As many as 10 students of the host institution participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the topic.
On the occasion a film show was also organized by the department on Women Empowerment which was witnessed students, staff and prominent people of the area.
Headmaster of the host school, Ashok Tharmatt who was the chief guest on the occasion distributed prizes among the winners.
Ashok appreciated the efforts of Information Department to hold such contest in the school. He said that such type of contest would definitely provide a platform to budding student to channelize their talent in right direction. He urged for holding more such programmes in educational institutions to spread awareness among the masses.
