Super Brain Cup Chess tournament begins

JAMMU, Jan 30: Organized by Ace Chess Academy, Super Brain Cup Chess tournament for school students of Jammu began today at Trikuta Nagar here.
About 72 selected players from 18 different schools of Jammu are participating in the tournament. The tournament was inaugurated by Rajesh Jain, president, Gangyal Industrial Association, along with SB Abrol, general secretary.
Upcoming singers of Jammu, Aseem and Miss Suvarcha thrilled the players with motivational songs during the inauguration ceremony.
The tournament is being played in three different groups– Category A, B and C. The tournament will be played on Knock out basis in which winners will be awarded Rs 10000 worth cash prizes along with trophies.
Three rounds were played today while semifinals and finals will be played tommorrow.
In Category A, those who made it to the semifinal are Puneet Choudhary, Meenal Gupta, Avni and Akashdeep Singh. In Category B, semifinalists are Soham Kamotra, Arushi Kotwal, Jaiveer Singh and Adheit Pangotra. In Category C, Divyam Gupta, Deewang, Divay Jain and Ayush made it to the semifinals.
Chief Arbiter of the tournament is Bindu Pathania while Vijay Choudhary, Director of Academy, is the organizer of the event. Also present on the occassion were Atul Kumar Gupta, president, All J&K Chess Association, Taranvir Singh Gujral, chief organizing secretary, Vikas Nanda, coordinator and Tej Ram Choudhary, owner of the Academy.
