JAMMU, Sept 6: Sudhir Anand, an educator from Jammu and a passionate fitness enthusiast, has achieved a significant milestone by completing the Khardungla Challenge, a demanding 72km ultra marathon set in the stunning yet rugged terrain of Ladakh. Anand finished the race in an impressive time of 10 hours and 33 minutes, conquering one of the world’s highest and most challenging ultra marathons.
The Ladakh Marathon, held annually in September, is renowned for its unique opportunity to run through Leh’s historic landscapes, cross the Indus River, and face the dramatic climb to Khardung La, the highest motorable pass in the world. Certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the event features six races, with the Khardungla Challenge and Silk Route Ultra standing out as among the toughest globally. This year’s marathon saw participation from 6,300 runners from across the globe.
Sudhir Anand’s remarkable achievement highlights his dedication and perseverance, balancing his career as an educator with his passion for endurance sports. “The Khardungla Challenge was the toughest race I’ve faced but also the most rewarding,” Anand said.
