JAMMU, Dec 14: Star XI and Evershine Cricket Club registered emphatic victories in the ongoing 2nd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by JTCC at GGM Science College ground, here.
In the first match, Star XI defeated Talab Tillo Cricket Club by 19 runs in a close contest.
Batting first, Star XI scored a modest total of 120 runs in 19.4 overs. Vinayak was the top scorer with 40 runs off 42 balls, while Abhishek contributed 22 off 19 balls. For Talab Tillo CC, Surinder scalped 3 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding 18 runs, Happy, Vinay and Kewal claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Talab Tillo CC bundled out for 101 runs in 19 overs, thus lost the match by 19 runs. Hemant, Kewal and Indraj contributed 20, 19 and 16 runs respectively. For Star XI, Anshul was the pick of the bowlers who captured 4 important wickets by conceding 7 runs in his 4 overs, while Rahul took 2 wickets. Shubam, Raghav and Bunny claimed one wicket each. Anshul was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, Evershine Club trounced VRCC by 28 runs in an easy contest.
Winning the toss and batting first, Evershine scored a modest total of 127 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Chotu (32), Hardeep Singh (31) and Lovely (19) were the main scorers. For VRCC, Manga, Kalu and Deepu claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, VRCC bundled out for a meagre total of 99 runs to lose the match by 28 runs. None of the batsmen could perform well. For Ever Shine CC, Bansi Lal was the wrecker-in-chief, who bagged 4 wickets by giving away 7 runs in 4 overs, while Binny and Hardeep Singh claimed one wicket each. Bansi Lal was declared man of the match.
