*Pundir bags man of series award; Surya best batsman, Rompy bowler

JAMMU, May 7: Defeating formidable Road Safety XI by a narrow margin of 18 runs in the summit clash, star-studded Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) lifted the title trophy of the ongoing 5th Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Jammu Tawi Sports Club at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Ankush Abrol, Working Committee Member JKCA was the chief guest on the occasion, while Desh Rattan Dubey, Joint Secretary JKCA Jammu Wing presided over the valedictory function. Rajesh Dhar, Chairman Media Committee JKCA and Rakesh Mahajan were the guests of honour.
The Tournament was held under the overall supervision of Shashi Pal, Chairman Jammu Tawi Sports Cricket Club and Organizing Secretary of the Tournament.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, JCC scored a modest total of 134 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Shubham Pundir was the top scorer with 51 runs off 49 balls, while Paras Sharma and Rohan Koul contributed 21 and 19 runs to the total respectively. For Road Safety XI, Dhamandeep and Rompy Sharma took 2 wickets each, while Sunny claimed one wicket.
In reply, Road Safety XI managed to score 116 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 18 runs. Nasir top scored with 33 runs off 23 balls, while Yasir and Rompy contributed 26 and 24 runs to the total respectively. For JCC, speedsters Rahil Singh and Rohit Sharma took 3 wickets each, while left-arm spinner Ankush Gill claimed 2 wickets. For his valuable knock of 51 runs Shubham Pundir was adjudged as man of the match. He was also declared as man of the series, while Rompy Sahrma and Surya Mahotra were named as best bowler and best batsman respectively. Praful Dhar, Musaif Ajaz, Aarav Mahajan, Aditpal Singh, Atharav Bharadwaj, Harsh Gupta, Dikshant Kundal and Sachin Sharma were declared as the young promising cricketers on the occasion.
The runners-up team alongwith individual prizes was presented a trophy, while the winners along with the individual prizes and a trophy were presented a cash prize of Rs 20,000 by the chief guest and other dignitaries on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Surender, Sandeep Manchanda and Vonod Kandyara.
