JAMMU, Oct 1: The Stag 40th J&K State Table Tennis Championship commenced in indoor sports complex MA Stadium here today.
The chief guest on the occasion was Ashok Khajuria, MLC Jammu, who declared the championship open.
In his opening speech, he encouraged the young players to play in the right spirit of the game and give their hundred percent to achieve their goals.
While declaring the championship open, MLC assured the organizers of every kind of help possible for the upliftment of the game in the State.
Over 250 players from different districts of the State are taking part in different age groups in this four day long championship.
Among others present were Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports Council, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Er Saleem Bandey Secretary Poonch District TT Association, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra, Sanjeev Gupta and Vikas Magotra.
The matches were officiated by Vasu Dewan, Satish Gupta Manager Indoor Sports Complex MA Stadium, Sandeep Khadotra NIS Table Tennis coach), Meenu Rajesh and Asad Sharma.
In U-12 boys’ quarterfinal, Rudraksh beat Ayan by 2-1, Adhyan Sharma defeated Ujwal by 2-0 and Ktisin Jain outplayed Gurshan Singh.
