JAMMU, Nov 1: Srinagar XI defeated Khalsa Cricket Club by 8 wickets to lift the 6th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup at KC Sports Club ground, here today.
Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu was the chief guest in the valedictory function, while SSP Rajesh Sharma and SP City Vinod Kumar were the guests of honour. SP Operation Vinay Kumar, SP Rural Shiv Dev Singh and Sr. Cricketer Rakesh Chopra were the special guests. The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Khalsa Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 104 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Dhruv Mahajan top scored with 20 runs, while Harinder (17) and Kulvinder (15 ) were the other contributors.
From Srinaagr Eleven, Gulzar was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets, Raqeeb bagged 2 wickets, while Sajjad and Ishtiaq claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Srinagar XI chased the target in 15.1 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Obaid Haroon played a good innings of 48 runs, while Rouf Bisati (28) and Shabir (14) were the other contributors. For Khalsa Club, Sunny and Ankush claimed 1 wicket each.
Gulzar of Srinagar XI was adjudged as the man of the match and best bowler of the tournament, Rakesh Kumar of YCC was declared as the best batsman, while Obaid Haroon of Srinagar XI was declared as the man of the series.
In his address, the Chief Guest IGP Jammu lauded the efforts of the organizers in conducting this mega event of 6th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup wherein top teams of the State participated.
The tournament was organized jointly by Simula Club, KC Sports Club and J&K Sports Promoters Club.
