10 teams get around 100 players for U-17 PPCPL

JAMMU, May 18: Around 100 shortlisted players got their official teams for the upcoming 2nd Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) (Under-17 boys) during the auction that took place under the chairmanship of chief guest, Inspector General of J&K Police (IGP) Jammu, M K Sinha, here today.
These players included five from neighbouring Nepal, 10 from rest of India and remaining 85 from Jammu and Kashmir. However, 60 reputed Junior players were already retained by the franchise owners of the League.
The event is organised by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu in collaboration with KC Sports Club and Vishal Cricket Club Jammu from May 27 to June 4, 2019 at KC Sports Club, here.
SSP Jammu, Tejinder Singh and former Working President and former Chairman J&K Cricket Association (JKCA), Ramesh Mahajan were the guests of honour. Others present were Rajesh Sharma (SSP SO to IGP Jammu), Rajesh Gill, Rajesh Dhar, Rakesh Koul, Vivek Singh and Gurvinder Singh.
Among the team owners present were Romesh Mahajan and Ankush Abrol of KC Royals; Arjun Choudhary of KC Sports Club; Ramanpreet Singh Wazir of Samar Strikers; Ashok Chodhary of AKN Strikers; Vijay Sharma of Patel Cricket Club; Taginder Singh of Vriddhi Royals; Ashish Singh of Horizon Kings; Robin Singh of Count Fitness Hurricans; Avinash Uttam of The Game Changers and Sharukh Pathan of GSI Tigers (Kathua).
Speaking to the gathering, the IGP Jammu stated that the objective behind organising such events is to engage youth at grass root level in different sports activities so as to provide them platform to perform and excel. He said that Sports strengthens a person to face the challenges of life besides helps in increasing physical, mental and spiritual growth.
He also appreciated the team owners and sponsors of the league for becoming part of it with the objective to uplift the young sportsmen of the State.
A mesmerizing dance performance by Divya Kala Manch and song by Rohini Verma were the special guest items which enthralled the audience.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, former Ranji player presented welcome address and briefed about the League. Rajesh Dhar and Justina Victor conducted the proceedings.
The 60 reputed Junior players were already retained by the franchise owners of the league whereas 100 players steals birth in different participating teams of this mega event.
