POONCH, Jan 25: Sports fraternity of Poonch led by General Secretary, Table Tennis Association, Er Saleem Banday called on Union Minister of State for Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste here today and submitted a memorandum highlighting the demands of the sportspersons.
The Minister was on his outreach programme to Poonch where he inaugurated Indoor hall in Sports Stadium here in the presence of Rahul Yadav DDC, Ajaz Asad MD PDD, Ramesh Angral SSP, Zaffar Ahmed Banday ACR, Pardeep Sharma ex MLC, XEn PWD.
Er. Saleem Banday spoke in length about the lack of sports infrastructure and coaches of various games in Poonch district. He demanded a Multipurpose Sports Complex of National standard for the Poonch, a separate Table Tennis hall, Cricket stadium, Astroturf Hockey field, Outdoor stadiums at Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar.
The Union Minister listened the demands patiently and assured for recommending the same to the Ministry of Sports, Government of India and J&K for its fulfilment.
Prominent among others present were Ajit Singh Jeet, President TT Association, Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof Jasbir Singh, Umran Hussain, Pawan Kumar, Parvez Afridi, Narinder Singh, Kuljit Singh, Bhopinder Singh, Jagjit Singh, Imtiaz Ganai, Sohail Kirmani and others.
