JAMMU, May 19: Spartan Cricket Club defeated Sai Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 12 runs at GGM Science College Hostel ground, while Manjeet Cricket Club (MCC) Chandwan thrashed MCC Junior Hiranagar by a big margin of 73 runs at Police Lines ground, Kathua in the ongoing District Level Cricket Tournament, being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) across the State.
The Tournament is being organised under the patronage of Justice CK Prasad, Administrator JKCA, and Chairmanship of Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, CEO JKCA and under the overall supervision of Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, Member Judicial State Human Rights Commission and Member JKCA.
At GGM Science College ground Jammu, winning the toss and batting first, Spartan Cricket Club scored a modest total of 138 runs. Ravinder top scored with 47 runs, while Karan contributed 34 runs to the total and Parshotam chipped in with 11 runs. From Sai Cricket Club, Sunil took 3 wickets, Surinder 2 and Jerry Gill 1 wicket.
In reply, Sai Cricket Club managed to score 126 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 12 runs. Sunil, Prateek and Karan contributed 32, 27 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Akshay took 3 important wickets from Spartan Cricket Club, while P. Shaw bagged 2 wickets. Amar claimed one wicket. Ravinder was adjudged as the man of the match.
At Police Lines ground Kathua, batting first, MCC Chandwan scored a decent total of 181 runs in 32.4 overs. Rahul top scored with 57 runs, while Yogesh contributed 24 runs to the total. From MCC Junior Hiranagar, Suresh took 3 wickets, while Rahul claimed 2.
MCC Junior Hiranagar, in reply bundled out for a meagre total of 108 runs in 28.3 overs. Sumit top scored with 30 runs, while Rahul contributed 17 runs to the total. Mohan Lal was the pick of the bowlers from MCC Chandwan, who took 4 important wickets, while Deep claimed 2 wickets.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Singh, Vinod, Jitender Singh and Dheeraj as umpires.
