SOS India organises Zonal Level Annual Sports Festival

JAMMU, Aug 19: SOS Children’s Villages of India (SOS India), a national, self-implementing child care organisation held a Zonal Level Sports Competitions of SOS ‘Tarang’ for North Zone held at SOS Children’s Village, here.
120 children from nine Children’s Villages of North Zone participated in this sports festival in the disciplines of Volleyball, Badminton and Athletics.
All the children were enthusiastic and participated in the respective games with team spirit during the events. 50 children won the first and second prizes. The overall championship was won by Children’s Village Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that SOS India organizes a series of regional and zonal level competitions every year to provide opportunity for SOS children to showcase talent in the field of arts, culture and sports.
This year the grand finale event was held in New Delhi. Children in the age group of 10-18 from all the 32 SOS Children’s Villages participated in these competitions with great enthusiasm and gusto.
Speaking about the importance of this festival, Anuja Bansal, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India, said, “Tarang is integral to SOS India and the holistic development of children living under our care in our 32 Villages.
“It is our endeavour that each child participating in this mega festival should emerge as a true ambassador of SOS India’s efforts. The festival will be culminating on Universal Children’s Day in New Delhi on November 20, 2018,” Mr Bansal added.
