Wrestling competition concludes

BHADERWAH, Aug 19: To build competitive spirit among the youth as well as to provide impetus to rural sports activities in the region, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) based at Bhadarwah organised 2-day Shaheed Naib Subedar Chunni Lal Wrestling (Dangal) competition, which concluded at Bhadarwah, here today.
In the closing ceremony, Commander 4 Sector RR Narinder Jit Singh was the chief guest, while ADC Bhadarwah Pawan Kumar Parihar and ASP Bhadarwah Rajinder Singh were the guests of honour. Commanding Officer RR Bhadarwah presided over the function.
50 wrestlers from different parts of country including Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Punjab,Chandigarh, beside Jammu and Kashmir participated was held at Sports ground of Government Boys Higher Secondary Bhadarwah.
On the occasion, Cammander 4 Sector RR stressed on the importance of sports activities for the betterment and progressive of society.
During the competition, all the bouts were held as per existing rules on knockout basis.
In the finals, competition of light weight
bout for 30,000 was played between wrestlers Nadeem Ahmed of Bhallesa and Wrestler Farooq Ahmed from Jaie, Bhadarwah, which was won by Farooq Ahmed. While in competition of heavy weight (Badi Mali), the bout for 50,000 was played between Wrestler Rehmat Ali and Wrestler Nisar Bhallesi, which ended in a tie. Majid Aslam Wani and Subash Chander acted as referee during the competition.
On the occasion Dr SS Balwal, Principal Govt Degree College Bhadarwah, Major Ambarish Mahanta, Second-in-Command, Major G Alagu Raju, Quartermaster, 4 Rashtriya Rifles, CEO BDA Rajinder Prasad Khajuria, Tehsildar Masood Ahmed, SDPO Touseef Rishu, civil administration,Ex-Servicemen and a number of people were present.
