JAMMU, Mar 29: Sant Mela College of Education, Digiana Jammu organised Annual Sports Meet in its College ground, here today.
S Bhupinder Singh (retired DIG), Chairman Guru Harkrishan Public School was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Amar Singh, Chairman MBS College of Engineering and Technology was the guest of honour and Prof Anmol Singh, Chairman of the College presided over the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr SPS Dutta (Professor Emeritus) of Jammu University and Prof Hardev Singh (Editor Sikh Sandesh).
Lauding the efforts of the College in promoting Physical Education, the chief guest congratulated the students for their good show in sports activities.
The sports activities held during the day included 100 meters sprint, lemon & spoon race, filling up the bottles, balloon burst race, tug of war, teacher game, besides Carrom, Chess and Table Tennis.
In 100 meters sprint, Manisha Saini, Harleen Kour and Manpreet Kour claimed 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively, while Suman and Priyanka bagged 1st and 2nd spots in lemon & spoon race.
Harpreet Kour, Rinkle and Priyanka bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in filling up the bottles, while in balloon burst race, Monika stood 1st, Manisha Saini bagged 2nd place and the 3rd place went to Harleen Kour.
Shivali Padwal was the winner in Chess, Harleen Kour and Jasmeen Kour in Carrom, while in minor games for boys, Jaswinder Singh, Bharat and Suresh Shukla claimed 1st, 2nd and 3rd spots respectively. Team A was the winner in tug of war.
Earlier, Principal of the College, Dr Kiran Luthra presented welcome address and threw light on the importance of sports activities.
Prof Jasmeet Kour, Convenor Sports Activities organised the sports events under the guidance of Physical Instructor, S Daljeet Singh.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof Charanjeet Kour.
The programme concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
