Slathia lauds efforts to promote rural sports

VIJAYPUR, Jan 27: Raman Club Hiranagar defeated Mahal Club Ramgarh in the final of VolleyBall Tournament held at Barjani Ground village Barjani Bari Brahmana in Vijaypur Assembly Constituency this evening.
Giving away the trophies to the winners and runner up teams, former Minister and Senior State Vice President National Conference Surjeet Singh Slathia lauded the efforts of promoting traditional rural sports, and expressed happiness over youth evincing immense interest in the competitions like volleyball.
Mr Slathia, who was the Chief Guest, said volley ball remains a passion for its practitioners and fans whose number is no less, notwithstanding the challenge being posed by other popular games.
The former minister exuded confidence that such events will certainly motivate the youngsters by watching veterans in action.
Besides large number of sports lovers, the prominent among those who watched the tournament included NC District President Mohninder Gupta besides Vijay Singh, Vice President, Mr Bhagwan Singh, Block President Bari Brahmana, ex-Municipal Chairman Raman Gupta and ex-Sarpanch Mr Gulab-Din.
The tournament began yesterday and concluded this afternoon with prominent teams of the area taking part in the event.
