GULMARG, Jan 21: The 5th National Ski Mountaineering Championship 2022-23 successfully concluded at Gulmarg, here today.
The championship witnessed keen contests between 100 players from across India, in various disciplines under the sub-junior, junior and senior categories.
The Ski Mountaineering Association of J&K organized the tournament along with SMAI under the aegis of the Ski Mountaineering Association India – SMAI with support from HAWS Gulmarg, Tourism Department Kashmir, SHO Gulmarg and CEO Gulmarg.
Dr Javeed Ahmad, Assistant Director of Tourism Gulmarg was the chief guest and he distributed the prizes and certificates among the winners. Kuldip Patil, President of Ski Mountaineering Association India – SMAI, and Niyaz Ahmad Ski Instructor were also present on the occasion.
Tsewang Thudstan, Manjeet, and Shubham Parhar all three from Indian Army won 1st , 2nd and 3rd places in the Vertical event in senior group respectively, while Muzamil, Ubaid Gulzar and Aftab all from J&K won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in junior boys category respectively in the vertical event and Murtaza Mushtaq, Aaquib Fayaz and Nasir all from J&K won 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in the vertical event in sub junior event respectively.
Ufiq Ul Tahir (J&K), Masrat Bashir (J&K) and Monika Bhaidana (Delhi) won 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in the vertical event in the junior event, respectively. Tsewang Thudstan from HAWS Gulmarg, Rameez Ahmad from J&K and Mohit from HAWS Gulmarg stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the senior men category in the sprint event respectively, whereas Ufiq Ul Tahir (J&K), Masrat Bashir (J&K) and Nidhi Patil from Maharashtra remained 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the sprint event in girls junior event.
