Singh Club, Nanak Nagar Club register convincing wins; advance to next round

JAMMU, Mar 29: Singh Club and Nanak Nagar Club registered convincing wins in their respective matches and advanced to the next round of the ongoing Senior Hockey Tournament, organized by Hockey J&K at KK Hakku Stadium, here today.
In the first match of the day, Singh Club, Bandhu Rakh registered 4-1 goals victory over Sittu Club and sailed into the next round of the tournament.
During the first half, players of both the teams strived hard to raise the lead, but failed and the first half ended in draw.
In the second half, Ramandeep Singh of Sittu Club netted the first goal of the match in the 31st minute and raised the scorecard.
Iqbal of Singh Club scored the goal in the 35th minute and equalized the score. Just after two minutes, Gurpreet of Singh Club netted the goal and raised the lead over Sittu Club by one goal.
Enthusiastic Gurpreet again trounced back and netted the goal in the 44th minute and raised the scorecard to 3-1 goals.
In the 58th minute, Karamveer Singh of Singh Club scored the goal and brought the opponent team under extreme pressure.
After 58th minute, players of Sittu Club played mind games, but their dream to clinch the match shattered, when the referee whistled and informed that the time is over.
Sittu Club lost the match by 4-1 goals and paved way for Singh Club to enter the next round of the tournament.
In the second match, Nanak Nagar Club routed Bagh-Bain Club by 6-2 goals and advanced to the next round.
In the first half, Janak Singh of Nanak Nagar club scored the goal in the second minute, followed by another goal by Mandeep in the 7th minute.
In 12th minute, Baldeep Singh of Bagh-Bein club netted the goal and brought the rising scoreboard to 2-1 goals.
Mandeep of Nanak Nagar club scored the goals in the 15th and 22nd minutes and furth raised the scorecard to 4-1 goals.
In the last three minutes of the first half, Ravneet netted the goal and brought the opponent team under pressure.
The players of Bagh-Bein Club tried their level best to equalize the score, but failed and the first half ended with 5-1 goals.
In the second half, Jaspinder Singh of Bagh-Bein tried to bring down the rising pressure on the team by netting goal in the 47th minute. But when Gurjeet of Nanak Nagar Club scored the goal in the 50th minute, the players of Bagh-Bein Club were looking dominated.
After 50th minute, players of Bagh-Bein Club started playing logically, but lost all hopes in the remaining ten minutes of the second half and faced defeat by 6-2 goals.
The matches were officiated by SP Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Iqbal Singh, Indpal Singh, GS Bakshi, Charanjit Singh and Dilbir Mehta.
Among others present were Raman Singh, general secretary, Hockey J&K, Gurmeet Singh, SHO, Gandhi Nagar police station, PP Singh, VK Kohli and Jagjeet Kour.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Young Star Club will clash with Bagh-Bein Club in the first semis, while Nanak Nagar Club will take on Zorawar Club in the second semifinal match.
