JAMMU, Mar 24: Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor beat Road Safety XI in a thriller by 7 runs to advance in the ongoing Winter Shield T20 Cup, being organized by SCA, J&K Sports Council under the supervision of its Secretary Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary at Parade Ground here..
Earlier, batting first, Singh Cricket Club scored 146 runs in 19.4 overs. Rahul top scored with 46 runs, while Manik and Arun contributed 25 runs each. From Road & Safety XI, skipper RK Bhat was the wrecker-in-chief, who took four important wickets, while Dinesh, Showkat and Sunil claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Road & Safety XI managed to score 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs. Sunil top scored with 37 runs, while Asif and Pankaj contributed 35 and 32 runs respectively.
From Singh Akhnoor, Sunil took 2 wickets, while Mahesh, Sham Singh and Akash took 1 wicket each. Rahul was declared as the man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Dayal and Ashok Kumar.
In tomorrow’s fixture, KC Sports Club will take on Samba XI at 9.30 am, while Simula Club will face NCC at 1 pm.
