JAMMU, Nov 2: Simula XI and Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor scripted big victories over their rivals in the ongoing 5th Eid-Diwali Milan Cricket Cup, being organized by Simula Sports and Vishal Cricket Club at Parade ground, here.
In the first match played today, Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor defeated Khalsa Cricket Club by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Khalsa Club scored a modest total of 130 runs in 19.4 overs. Harinder Singh top scored with 38 runs while Nitin and Shiva contributed 33 and 21 runs respectively. For Singh Club, Binny was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Sham Singh Langeh and Rajesh bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Singh Club Akhnoor chased the target in 20 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Sunny top scored with 49 runs, while Kavi and Rahul contributed 33 and 19 runs respectively. For Khalsa Club, Sushant took 2 wickets, while Harinder, Manmohit and Harpreet claimed one wicket each. Sunny of Singh Club was declared as man of the match.
In another matcher, Simula XI thrashed International Cricket Club (ICC) by 5 wickets. Batting first, ICC scored a paltry total of 87 runs in 19.3 overs. Deepak top scored with 24 runs, while Suresh contributed 11 runs to the total. For Simula XI, Kuldip Kumar took 3 wickets, while Raman Dutta and Vikram bagged 2 wickets ech. Satish and Hardeep claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Simula XI chased the target easily in 12 overs by losing 5 wickets to win the match by 5 wickets. Shashi top scored with 25 runs, while Anshuman and Atul contributed 19 and 11 runs respectively. For ICC, Rishab took 2 wickets, while Deepak, Akshay and Rajeev claimed one wicket each. Kuldip Kumar of Simula XI was adjudged as man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Sanjay, Vinod Kandyara and Sandeep Manchanda, while the tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Rajesh Gill, Senior Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Trophy player.
