Shubam, Imran and bowlers guide JKCA Green to easy win

JAMMU, Feb 12: Brilliant half-centuries by Shubam Khajuria and Imran Haroon helped JKCA Green to trounce JKCA Blue by 8 wickets in the match of the Quadrangular 50-Over Cricket Series, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) to pick the team for forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, JKCA Green skipper Hardeep Singh won the toss and elected to field first, on what looked to be a bowling friendly track.
Put into bat, JKCA Blue bundled-out for a paltry total of 145 runs in 39.2 overs. Skipper Ramdayal was the top scorer with 27 runs off 29 balls, studded with 5 boundaries, while Javed Ahmad Mir contributed sedate 25 runs off 51 balls with the help of 4 boundaries. Hilal Ahmed (21), Parminder Singh (17) and Obaid Haroon (11) were the other contributors.
For JKCA Green, left-arm spinner Raman Dutta and speedster Rahil Singh took 3 wickets each by conceding 19 and 30 runs in 8 overs each respectively, while paceman Abid Nabi bagged 2 wickets by giving away 23 runs in his 8 overs and young wrist spinner Shubam Pundir bagged 2 wickets by conceding 33 runs in his quota of 7 overs. The highlight of the innings was superb display of wicket-keeping skills by wicketkeeper Raman Thaploo, who superbly plotted two dismissals to add to his team’s winning cause by stumping opener Parminder Singh and catching middle-order batsman Aditya Pratap Singh behind stumps.
In reply, JKCA Green chased the target easily in 27.4 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Imran Haroon remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 64 balls, while Shubam Khajuria contributed 52 off 63 balls, studded with 6 boundaries and one six. Arshad Khawaja scored power-packed 25 off 16 balls with the help of 3 massive sixes and a boundary, while Amrit Pal Singh remained unbeaten on 6 runs off 13 balls including one boundary. For JKCA Blue, left-arm spinner Amir Aziz took 2 wickets by giving away 25 runs off his 7 overs.
The match was officiated by BCCI Level-1 umpires Sudhir Singh and Amit Gupta, while the scorebook was maintained by BCCI scorer Ashwani Kumar.
