JAMMU, June 19: Young opening batsman of Jammu and Kashmir, Shubam Khajuria continued his superb form and smashed power-packed 96 runs to help Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) thrash Collage Group, Delhi by 9 wickets and enter semifinals of the Delhi and District Cricket Association’s (DDCA’s) Super League Cricket Tournament at Mohan Academy Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, today.
According to the reports reaching here, Collage Group while batting first scored a modest total of 172 runs in the stipulated 35 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Rahul Dagger was the top scorer with 68 runs. For ONGC, Lokinder and Sourav shared 2 wickets each, while Amit Bhandari claimed one wicket.
In reply, ONGC sailed on a swashbuckling knock of 96 runs by Shubam Khajuria and an unbeaten knock of 51 runs by another in form batsman Mohit Sharma to chase the target in just 18 overs by losing only one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Shubam scored 96 runs in just 51 balls, which included 10 boundaries and 7 sixes.
It is pertinent to mention here that it is talented Khajuria’s fifth big knock out of the 7 innings he played since his BCCI’s Under-16 NCA Camp. With three centuries including a mammoth 191 at his belt in the matches at National Cricket Academy, Shubam scored back to back half-centuries including today’s cracking 96 in DDCA’s Delhi Super League Cricket Tournament.
