KATHUA, Dec 4: Shri Ram Club Monka Talab, Sensor Club Bakhta, Morning Club Kathua and JKP Kathua registered emphatic wins and entered into the semis of the Range Police Volleyball Friendship Cup (2nd Phase), which got underway at sports stadium, here today.
In the first match Shri Ram Club Monka Talab Kathua defeated Tiger Club Baria by 2-0 sets, whereas in the second match, Sensor Club Bakhta scripted a comfortable win against Nagri Higher Secondary School by 2-1 sets.
In third match, Morning Club Kathua defeated CRPF by 2-0 sets, whereas in the last match of the day, JKP Kathua won the match by 2-1 sets against Nagrota.
Earlier Shakeel Beig, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range in presence of SSP Mohan Lal, Principal PTS RK Bhat, Commandent CRPF, SP Shivdeep Singh and Additional SP Yogesh Sharma inaugurated the tournament.
While speaking, DIG said that the aim of the J&K Police is to make youths drugs free and in this context so many sports as well as cultural and awareness programmes are being organized throughout the year in every district so that the sports culture will be maintained and energy of the youths channelized in a right direction.
He also announced that on December 17 at 11 am JKP will conduct Anti Drug Rally at Kathua for awareness of the youths and the parents also.
SSP Mohan Lal appealed the youths who are involved in the drugs or other allied things to participate in the sports activities organized by the Police and stop taking drugs.
Among others present were DySP Manzoor Hussain, Inspector Bundeshwar Singh, Inspector Soma Ram, SI Sudhir Sadhotra, Chain Singh, Yograj Sharma, Kuldeep Singh, etc.
The proceedings of the opening function were conducted by Lecturer Lukhinder Singh whereas the vote of thanks was presented by Rajesh Gill, CPO Coordinator of the event.
The matches were officiated by Chuni Lal, Uttam Singh, Ashok Kumar, Ganesh Dutt, Parveen Singh, Dharampal and Balbir Singh.
The tournament in which 8 teams including CRPF and JKP Kathua are participating is being organized by Range Police Headquarters under Civic Action Programme of the J&K Police Department.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of DIG Jammu-Kathua range, whereas SSP Mohan Lal, Additional SP Yogesh Sharma, DySP Shokat Malik, DySP Ruhail Mircha are the members of the organizing committee.Range Police Volleyball Friendship Cup gets underway
