Shourya lifts 38th Stag J&K State Table Tennis title

JAMMU, Nov 19: Defeating Vasu Dewan by 3-2 in the summit clash, Shourya Sharma lifted the title trophy in men’s singles event of the 38th Stag J&K State Table Tennis Championship, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in Men’s Semi finals Vasu Dewan defeated Dheeraj Arora by 3-0 and Shorya Sharma got better of Sandeep Khadotra 3-1.
On this occasion,Kavinder Gupta, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly was the chief guest who witnessed the men’s final match and distributed prizes amongst the winners and runner-up shuttlers.
While addressing he congratulated the medal winners and encouraged them to give their best at the national level and bring laurels for the state.
Earlier, Manmeet Kour delivered the welcome address and compared the proceedings of the main event.
In Under-12 Cadet boys final, Akhilesh beat Karmanya by 3-0, while in Under-12 Girls Cadet girls final, Iknoor defeated Ragini by 3-0.
In Sub Junior boys final, Saksham got better of Hanumant Sharma by 3-2, while in Sub Junior Girls final, Iknoor beat Ashmit by 3-0.
In Junior boys final, Ritvik beat Mannadeep Singh by 3-1 and in Junior Girls final, Jhanvi defeated Shreya by 3-0 and in Youth Boys final, Ritvik beat Asad by 3-0.
In Women’s final, Jhanvi drubbed Shreya by 3-1 and in men’s singles final, Shorya got better of VAsu Dewan by 3-2, while in veteran men’s singles, Dr Prabjot trounced Anuj Verma by 3-1.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Satbir singh, Rajan Sharma, Mushtaq Ahmed OSD to Secretary Sports Council J&K, Shiv Kumar Sharma joint secretary Sports Council, VK Magoo, working president J&K Table Tennis Association, Salim Bandey, Secretary Poonch Table Tennis Association, Riaz Ahmed, Prof Jasbir singh, Sunil Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Anil Dutta, Gurvinder Singh Sasan, Sandeep Khadotra, Shorya Sharma, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra and Sanjeev Gupta.
The matches were officiated by Narinder Kour (SAI coach), Sandeep Khadotra (NIS Table Tennis coach) and Meenu Rajesh.
