JAMMU, Nov 2: To commemorate the glorious services in the field of education, Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jammu celebrated Annual Day on the theme ‘Ambitions and Expectations’ with pomp and show at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, here.
AG Kohli, Minister for Transport, Ravinder Raina, MLA Nowshera, Dr Jatinder Udhampuri, S P Verma, JL Kotwal, ID Soni and Harinder Singh graced the function with their presence.
All the dignitaries were given rousing reception on their arrival and were presented saplings by Rameshwar Mengi, Principal of the School alongwith staff members.
The function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries and the School Principal, which was followed by Ganesh Vandana.
Earlier, Mr Mengi presented welcome address and gave brief description about the students, who excelled in different fields.
The toddlers of the Pre Primary wing presented a dance item on an English song, while Primary wing students sang a Hindi song and a ‘qawali’ was presented by the students of Middle wing.
A toal of Rs 2, 94, 000 was awarded in the form of cheques to the meritorious students who outshined in academics.
Rs 15,000 in the form of cheque was awarded to the third position holder of 12th Class, while 43 cheques of Rs 5,000 each were given to the position holders of 10th and 12th class and 11 cheques of Rs 2,000 each were presented to 8th Class students and 27 cheques of Rs 1,000 each were given to students who got merit in 1st to 7th Classes of the School.
Finally, the vote of thanks was presented by the Management of the School.
