Sham for reviving traditional sports in rural areas

Jammu, Nov 24: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Malerkotla, Punjab won the final bout of Baba Kailakh Dev Dangal held at Thathar, Bantalab here today. Bout between JKP wrestler Beenia Ameen and Bhupinder of Ajnala Punjab ended in a tie.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma was chief guest and local MLA Mr. Bharat Bushan was guest of honor on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister hailed the management for promoting sports and social activities, adding that such events bring various sections of the society close and help in maintaining communal harmony, which is need of the hour. He stressed upon the management to continue strive for uniting the society and spread the messages of saints and social reformers to eradicate several evils from the society.
Stressing the need for promoting traditional sports like wrestling, Kabaddi and other rural sports to engage the youth towards games, the Minister said this would help in preventing them in indulging in drugs and other anti-social activities which are widely spreading in younger generation.
On this occasion, Bharat Bhushan, MLA Raipur Domana, JKDF president Anil Gupta, former President wrestling federation of India Dushyant Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Prem Chouwdhary and Shiv Kumar Sharma were honoured by dangal committee.
Earlier, Abdul Gani of Malerkotla, Punjab beat Jagroop of Amritsar in tough bout. He was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 61 thousand and special prize of Rs 10 thousand. Committee also gave cash prize of Rs 40 thousand to runner up Jagroop.
Dangal Committeee chairman Sukhdev Singh, president Naudan Singh, Sunil Sharma Raka, KD Singh, Kamal Sharma,Mahant Rohit Shastri, Askar Ali, JE Gulam Rasool, Subash Verma, Shabil Singh, Master Farooq, Balbir Singh and Fareed were present on the occasion.
