KATRA, Oct 3: Seven participants sailed into the semi-finals round of the All India Devotional Song Competition, being organized by SMVD Shrine Board, Department of J&K Tourism, PTC Punjabi Gold and Patanjali Dantkanti, here today.
In the quarterfinals, 16 participants competed among each other for their entry into mega final and out of which Meenu Atwal, Rahul Laknotra, Aditya Kumar, Shubham Banerjee, Vivek Mohan, Sunil Atwal and Ritika Kakkar were selected for semi-finals, whereas Mohinder Soni and Reena Devi were in the waiting list.
In this quarterfinal, DFO Reasi, Jyotsna Sarkar was chief guest, while famous singer Balraj, former winners of the competition including Anjusha and Kiran Bawa were special invitees who also sung on the occasion and mesmerised the audience with their melodious voice.
The event was co-sponsored by Monalisa Fashion and Wedding Stores, Lia Agarbatti, J&K Bank, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, Nideesh Builders Pvt. Ltd. Jammu, Yog Ashram Trust with active support of District Administration, while 92.7 Big FM is the Radio Partner.
A media interaction was also held by the panel of judges for finals, scheduled to be held on October 4 including Ganesh Jain, Chairman cum Managing Director Venus Records & Tapes Ltd., Gordhan Tanwani, film maker, Rishi Raj, film maker, Kumar Mohan Film Trade Analyst and Shanker Sawhney, a leading singer.
Ganesh Jain said that the competition has contributed a lot to the J&K UT in promotion of tourism and provide a platform to many singers including Himani Kapoor, Mool Raj, Paramjit Singh Pamma, Naveen Punjabi, Rajan Gill, Sonali Dogra, Ravi Kumar, Sanjeet Kumar, Anjusha, Sonali Dogra, Vanshkia Jaral and Ananya.
Chairman of the organising committee, Rakesh Wazir said that live telecast of the event is available on PTC Punjabi Gold from 9 pm onwards and also added that the film industry people have contributed a lot to this competition.
