POONCH, Sept 1: A total of 7 league matches were played on the first day of the Volleyball Tournament, which is being organized by Indian Army at Gulpur Helipad Ground here today.
The Tournament was inaugurated jointly by Dr Anees (CMO Poonch) and Nirdosh Sharma (Manager, Sports Stadium Poonch). Overall 16 teams are participating in the tournament. The opening match was played between Shaheed Aurangzeb Vs Gulpur C in which Gulpur C emerged as victorious.
This event marked a remarkable initiative to strengthen ties between neighboring villages and give opportunities to the hidden talent in border areas. Teams of talented volleyball players from Poonch will showcase their skills, determination and passion for the sport in the upcoming matches.
Speaking on the occasion, Nirdosh Sharma said, “Sports have the power to bridge gaps and unite people in a way that few things can. The Volleyball Tournament embodies the spirit of collaboration and harmony, and we are excited to witness the positive impact it will have on the participating communities.”
