KARGIL, Feb 19: Incharge Sub Divisional Magistrate Shakar Chiktan, Kacho Asgar Ali Khan inaugurated the 1st BDC Cup Inter-Panchayats (Rolling Trophy) Sub-junior (under 16) Ice Hockey tournament at Samrah Chiktan, here today.
Chairperson, Block Development Council (BDC), Shakar Chiktan, Syeeda Banoo, PRI Members, Ice Hockey players and local residents were present during the inaugural ceremony.
The tournament was organized by Panchayat Halqa Samrah in collaboration with Kargil Ice and Snow Sports Club, United Samrah Club and Shakar Chiktan Winter Games Association.
The inaugural match was played between Bodh Kharboo and Chiktan which was won by Chiktan by 4 goals. A total of eight teams participated in the tournament.
The BDC said she is committed to promoting winter games in the sub-division and assured that Rs 5 lakhs has been allocated for next year for organizing the tournament. She also assured to provide fog lights to all the Ice Hockey Rinks of Shakar Chiktan.
