JAMMU, May 17: Satwari zone emerged winner of the under-14 Volleyball title in the inter-zone girls’ competitions of district Jammu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues of MA Stadium and Government High School Jammu Cantonment grounds, here.
In the final, Satwari defeated Gandhi Nagar zone in straight sets. Earlier, in the semifinals, Satwari outplayed Bhalwal zone 2-0 while Gandhi Nagar trounced Jourian zone 2-1.
Meanwhile, in under-17 girls Volleyball, competition was at the preliminary stage with Marh, Gandhi Nagar and Chowki Choura zone winning their respective matches. The Results: Marh Zone beat Khour Zone 2-0; Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Dansal 2-0; Chowki Choura Zone beat Satwari Zone 2-0.
Besides Volleyball, competition in the disciplines of Kho-Kho and Kabaddi in twin age groups of under-14 and under-17.
Earlier, the competition declared open by Headmaster, Veena Gupta along with Surinder Choudhary (Master Government High School Jammu Cantonment) in presence of all the concerned conveners and officials of the department.
KHO-KHO: Under-14: RS Pura Zone beat Bishnah Zone 6-3 points; Dansal Zone beat Satwari Zone 10-01 points; Khour Zone beatChowki Choura Zone by 11-01 points; Bhalwal Zone beat Arnia Zone 15-03 points; Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Jourian Zone 5-0. Under-17: Dansal Zone beat Satwari Zone by two points; Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Miran Sahib Zone by one point; Arnia Zone beat Chowki Choura zone; RS Pura Zone beat Jammu zone by one point; Marh Zone beat Jourian Zone by four points;
KABADDI: Under-14: Bhalwal Zone beat Arnia zone by 09 points; Miran Sahib beat Khour zone by 17 points; RS Pura zone beat Marh by 16 points; Jourian zone beat by Chowki Choura by 19 points. Under-17: Marh zone beat Satwari zone by eight points; Miran Sahib zone beat Gandhi Nagar Zone by 11 points; Jourian zone beat Dansal zone by 17 points.
CRICKET: BOYS: Under-14: Satwari Zone beat Miran Sahib zone by 21 runs. Under-17: Gandhi Nagar zone beat Bishnah Zone by nine wkts and Bhalwal zone beat Miran Sahib zone by 30 runs.
